Falling Down, High
65 x 50 cm I 2014 I Ink and leaf gold on paperCourtesy the Artist
The imaginary landscape reaches a point where abstractness begins to dominate. I stand still for a moment, wondering if I’m looking at rain, water or clouds passing by. Maybe it is just an abstract arrangement with personal colors? I make constantly new decisions to portrait the nature in my way, with my own range of colors.
You see modern thinking combined with classical styles. History gives me inspiration to continue the tradition to paint. You can use the paint in diverse ways, it is about building an image and divide it into different layers, stories and moods, interruption and continuation. Thin layers versus thick to cover the canvas.
Visual images are confronted with abstract ones. Both related to a certain state of mind. Figurative landscapes are placed next to abstract landscapes. For me it is not important to explain what is going on in the scenery but how the color change our common state. When we look at the different hues, applied like color fields, it brings our imagination further. A vanished background becomes foreground again while the picture outside our window stay the same.
