Tysta Vatten / Strömmande Ljus (Silent Water / Streaming Light)

150x200cm | 2013 | inkt and acrylic
Tysta Vatten / Strömmande Ljus ('silent water / streaming light')
This work is for me about ‘less is more’ and it evokes the contrast between figurative and abstract. It captures the reminiscence before it has disappeared out of my mind. Based on previous work and experience with the landscape it is essential for me to continue to make those paintings. Even if I’m living in the city it has become my motive to cling to the feeling of a landscape even more. My intention is to continue my interest with how bright and dark color can lead your eye through the painting so that we look at it different. With the act of applying the paint in a certain rhythm you can let the eye dance. How does far and nearby work while there are no horizon? The abstract background becomes more visible even if it is covered. The diamond shapes translate light and moves around, like sunlight on a lake.
Instead of painting a still life I focused on to arrange all the colors next to each and other. Past and future collaborates in the work and brings the viewer to a place where the sound of water resonance through the mind.
